WIMCO (PAYROLL)
Keyss formerly known as Key Software Services has developed a business application for WIMCO. The application was made to handle all the critical operation of payroll system in a large organization like WIMCO.

Client's requirement
Payroll is an important activity in any organization. WIMCO needed an integrated and intelligent solution for their manual process in place which handled more than 1000 employees including both permanent and people on daily wages. The requirement was to transform the whole process which was till now all manual to an integrated computer aided information system with built in complex business logic i.e. used for computing pay for thousands on numerous parameters and much more.
Payroll is one of a series of accounting transactions dealing with the process of paying employees for services rendered, after processing of the various requirements for withholding of money from the employee for payment of payroll taxes, insurance premiums, employee benefits, garnishments and other deductions.

Challenge
A complex system which itself requires a large group of people on the board to manually update and manage each accounting activity related to payroll. The new computer aided information system was supposed to be ready for timely and accurate Salary Processing, efficient handling of Reimbursements, Loans & Advances and Government of India statutory requirements including all PF and ESIC challans and TDS. It had to be intelligent on one hand to calculate hourly wages, a salary consisting of a certain amount per calendar period, or pay to salespersons on commission and on the other hand robust to handle a large number of employees.
It involved building logic to calculate figures of minute detail such as hourly wages, a salary consisting of a certain amount per calendar period, or pay to salespersons on commission, as well as reimbursement for employee-paid expenses such as travel (calculated either based on actual amount paid by the employee or utilizing a per diem rate).

Solutions
KEYSS developed a complete solution having an integrated system to handle all the payroll activities in Foxpro for DOS initially which was later converted to VB.

Bottom line
WIMCO has been using the business application developed in Foxpro for almost a decade now. The application has seen 2 revisions since then and it has made it a full featured Payroll information system which can be used by any type and size of company.
